Maintenance & Tips

With good maintenance you are assured of years of pleasure with our products. Our maintenance guide helps you and forms the base of proper maintenance. Our maintenance guide is divided into the following subjects:

Aquarium units

Daily maintenance

  • Remove any dead fish every morning (before opening the shop);
  • Check for diseases and, if necessary, medicate;
  • Water tests for, among other things, ammonia and nitrite;
  • Feeding the fish once a day (feed must be finished within 1 minute);
  • Changing the aquarium water (automatically with an AWS system):
  • Time 1: approximately 09:30, refresh 2 minutes per rack;
  • Time 2: approximately 1 p.m., refresh 2 minutes per rack;
  • Time 3: approximately 4.30 pm, refresh 2 minutes per position.

PLEASE NOTE: The refreshing time is an average and also depends on the hardness and/or the water pressure!

Weekly maintenance

  • Filters: remove the top filter mat of each filter weekly and rinse it out. Next, add a dash (cap) of bacteria in the filter. Note: do not rinse all mats due to loss of bacteria;
  • Cleaning the inside of the aquarium (this can also be done by placing a number of algae eaters and snails in the aquarium);
  • Cleaning the outside of the aquarium and the rack (without chemical products);
  • Check whether the water is changed (of the AWS) at the set time. Also check that the supply valves are open;
  • Disinfect landing nets (with salt water or disinfection water).

Monthly maintenance

  • Check/clean circulation pumps.

Annual maintenance

  • Rinse and/or renew all filter mats once a year. Then add bacteria;
  • Renew oxygen stones.

Tips

  • Assign 1 person who is responsible for all work on and around the aquarium racks. Of course this also includes the operation of the computer;
  • DO NOT use cleaning products;
  • Note: Automatic Water Change System (AWS) = self-filling, NOT self-cleaning;
  • When medicating the fish, the refreshment valve should be closed.

The medicine has to remain in the water for a certain time (see description of the medicine).

Note: After treatment, open the refreshment valve again;

  • Use 1 landing net per aquarium (in connection with the transmission of diseases);
  • Lights on for a maximum of 10 hours due to algae growth (possibly with the help of a timer).

Coldwater fish basins

Daily maintenance

  • Remove any dead fish every morning (before opening the shop);
  • Check for diseases and, if necessary, medicate;
  • Water tests for, among other things, ammonia and nitrite.
  • Feeding the fish once a day (feed must be finished within 1 minute);
  • Changing the aquarium water (automatically with an AWS):
  • Time 1: approximately 9.30 am, 5 minutes change per fish tank;
  • Time 2: approximately 1 p.m., 5 minutes change per fish tank;
  • Time 3: approximately 4.30 pm, 5 minutes change per fish tank.

PLEASE NOTE: The change time is an average and also depends on the hardness and/or the water pressure!

Weekly maintenance

  • Filters: remove the top filter mat of each filter weekly and rinse it out. Next, add a dash (cap) of bacteria in the filter. Note: do not rinse all mats due to loss of bacteria;
  • Cleaning the inside of the aquarium
  • Cleaning the outside of the fish tank (without chemical products);

Monthly maintenance

  • Check/clean circulation pumps;
  • Make sure that the oxygen stones in the filter are located between the filter mats, because of better bacteria resistance and the splashing water which can cause lime scale on the lid (cover frames).

Annual maintenance

  • Rinse and/or renew all filter mats once a year. Then add bacteria;
  • Renew oxygen stones.
  • Renew the UV-lamp

Tips

  • Assign 1 person who is responsible for all work on and around the fish tanks. Of course this also includes the operation of the computer;
  • DO NOT use cleaning products;
  • Note: Automatic Water Change System (AWS) = self-filling, NOT self-cleaning;
  • When medicating the fish, the refreshment valve should be closed.

The medicine has to remain in the water for a certain time (see description of the medicine).

Note: After treatment, open the refreshment valve again;

  • Use 1 landing net per aquarium (in connection with the transmission of diseases);

Plant sales islands

Daily maintenance

  • Make sure that the drain to the filter is not blocked by loosened plants and/or plant remains;
  • Fill with water (in the filter) when the pump is off;
  • Make sure that the filter does not overflow when the pump is switched on again.

Weekly maintenance

  • Cleaning the inside and outside of the plant island;
  • Remove bad plants and plant residues.

Monthly maintenance

  • Check/clean circulation pump (if present);
  • Clean the filter.

Tips

  • Assign 1 person who is responsible for all work on and around the plant island;
  • Provide good and appropriate lighting above the plant island. If fluorescent lighting: replace the beams every other year;
  • Do not use cleaning products in and around the plant island;
  • Provide a good and tidy working environment. You can have a kitchen unit or work unit installed by Aquaja, so that you have a safe working environment.

Small animal enclosures

Daily maintenance

  • Ensure that the animals are always provided with food and drink;
  • Refresh and clean drinking and feeding troughs on time.

Weekly maintenance

Clean the rodent boxes at least once a week and put a new bedding in the rodent boxes;

  • Cleaning the outside of the rodent island;
  • Disinfect the rodent bins.

Tips

  • Assign 1 person who is responsible for all activities in and around the rodent enclosure;
  • Keep windows and lids tightly closed to prevent escape;
  • Provide a good and tidy working environment. This ensures a better presentation of your animals and is therefore conducive to sales.
  • Did you know that you can order individual parts, such as drinking bottles (all accessories available separately), windows, cover plates, etc. from Aquaja?

Bird units

Daily maintenance

  • Refresh and clean drinking and feeding troughs on time;
  • Keep the sliding doors of the rack clean and closed to prevent dust in the store;
  • Let the electric fan run continuously;
  • Clean the reception bin on the front of the removable tray.

Weekly maintenance

  • Clean the drawers of the cages and provide them with new bedding;
  • Clean the inside and outside of the bird rack.

Monthly maintenance

  • Clean the electric fan and vacuum the fan hose;
  • Check the perches for wear and replace if necessary.

Tips

  • Assign 1 person who is responsible for all work on and around the bird rack;
  • Keep windows and lids tightly closed to prevent escape;
  • Provide a good and tidy working environment. This ensures a better presentation of your animals and is therefore conducive to sales.

• Did you know that you can order separate parts, such as perches, drinking troughs and feeding troughs separately from Aquaja?

Reptile units

Daily maintenance

  • Refresh and clean drinking and feeding troughs on time;
  • Clean sliding glass windows of the cages.

Weekly maintenance

  • Clean cages and provide them with new bedding;
  • Disinfect cages weekly;
  • Check heating and lamps and replace if necessary;
  • Clean the inside and outside of the terrarium rack.

Tips

  • Assign 1 person who is responsible for all work on and around the terrarium;
  • Keep the sliding windows tightly closed to prevent escape;
  • Never replace the lamps (if necessary) with normal lamps, but with suitable terrarium lamps;
  • Provide a good and tidy working environment. This ensures a better presentation of your animals and is therefore conducive to sales.

Hoofd administratie

Als hoofd administratie draag je zorg aan het beheer en de administratie van onze debiteuren en crediteuren. Je verzorgt juiste en tijdige financiële rapportages; hiervoor voer je interne controle processen uit en verzamel je informatie voor diverse interne en externe financiële rapportages. Je stelt uitgaande betalingen op, en verwerkt en controleert deze. Tevens stel je administratieve procedures op en bewaak je deze. Verder verricht je boekingen in de financiële administraties en tot slot verwerk je documenten van financieel-administratieve aard. Dit alles in nauwe samenwerking met de directie.

Chauffage sur chauffage central Chaudière

  • Certains batteries pour aquariums et batteries pour plantes sont équipés de tuyaux de chauffage sous les aquariums.
  • Nous installons ces tubes chauffants dans les batteries sur des plaques tempex.
  • Un installateur agréé doit s’assurer que les tuyaux de chauffage sont raccordés au système de chauffage central.
  • Une ou plusieurs vannes thermostatiques sont également installées entre les deux afin que vous puissiez réguler vous-même la température dans les batteries.

Energy Saving Heating System

  • You can optionally equip our aquarium units with an energy saving heating system, where we put heating tubes under the aquariums.
  • These heating tubes are placed in isolating tempex materials.
  • A specialized installation company needs to connect these tubes to your central heating system.
  • Between the tubes and the central heating system the installation company needs to place thermostatic valves so you can control the temperature.

Electricity

  • There needs to be a double socket available for each unit.
  • The socket needs to be installed 15 cm above the wall units.
  • The sockets for our coldwater basins and plant islands need to be installed below the place of installment of the products.
  • The mechanical ventilation of our bird units need to be connected to constant current

Water supply

  • There needs to be a water supply with a ¾” external threaded faucet.
  • The water supply needs to be within 2 meters of the installed products.
  • The water supply needs to be installed at least 10 cm above the unit.

Water drainage

  • There needs to be a connection to the sewer with a diameter of 50 mm or 110 mm.
  • The drainage needs to be within 2 meters of the installed products.
  • The drainage needs to be in the floor (or as low as possible, in any case it needs to be lower then the lowest aquarium).

General rules

  • The place of installment needs to be clear of any obstacles and the floor needs to be even and stable. Aquaja recommends an even concrete floor. On any other floors we can’t guarantee the lifetime of our products.
  • The customer is responsible for an open access of the products towards the place of installment (e.g. door openings, other store units and any other obstacle).
  • The customer needs to have 1 extra person available to help unloading the products.
  • The exact place of installment needs to be determined on site with a responsible. Any chance in place of installment after the installation has started will be calculated as additional work.
  • Before the installation starts the required water drainage, water supply and electricity supplies need to be present and functional. If this is not the case, we are unable to test our products and therefor are not responsible for any possible leaks and/or failures.

  • Vous devez installer une double prise pour chaque batterie. Une seule prise est éventuellement suffisante (selon les options retenues).
  • Les doubles et / ou simples prises doivent etre installé de 15 cm au-dessus de chaque batterie.
  • Un point de courant continu doit être présent au fond de tous les bassins de poissons d’eau froide et des îlots de plantes.
  • Pour chaque îlot de tortue, une prise double face doit être présente dans un rayon de 1 mètre.
  • Les ventilateurs des batteries d’oiseaux doivent être connectés à un courant continu car ils doivent toujours fonctionner.
  • Les connexions pour les batteries d’oiseaux doivent également être fixées à au moins 15 cm au-dessus de la batterie.
  • Vous devez prévoir une connexion de robinet avec un filetage externe de 3/4 « (pouce).
  • L’arrivée d’eau peut être à 2 mètres maximum des batteries a installer.
  • L’arrivée d’eau doit être placée à au moins 10 cm au-dessus du batterie (à la hauteur standard de la batterie de 225 cm, l’arrivée d’eau doit être installé à une hauteur d’au moins 235 cm).
  • Vous devez prévoir une connexion à l’égout avec un diamètre d’au 50 mm ou 110 mm.
  • L’évacuation d’eau ne doit pas être à plus de 2 mètres des batteries à installer.
  • L’évacuation d’eau doit être incorporé dans le sol (ou aussi bas que possible sous le sol, au moins en dessous de la hauteur de l’aquarium le plus bas).

Règles générales

  • L’espace sur lequel les batteries sont placées doit être libre d’obstacles et la surface doit être constituée d’un plancher dur, plat et stable.
    Aquaja conseille de prévoir un sol en béton et homogène. Nous ne pouvons garantir nos produits sur aucune autre surface.
  • Le client est entièrement responsable du fait que les produits commandés peuvent être transportés sur le site d’installation. Pensez aux portes, aux vitrines, aux magasins et aux autres obstacles.
  • Le client doit prévoir 1 personne supplémentaire, en raison de déchargement des batteries.
  • En cas de détails, le client doit transmettre la taille maximale de la porte immédiatement sur devis ou commande
  • L’emplacement exact de l’installation sera discuté avec la personne responsable en magasin. Tout changement après le démarrage de l’installation sera calculé en tant que travail supplémentaire.
  • Avant l’installation, les installations d’évacuation d’eau, d’arrive d’eau et d’électricité (le cas échéant) doivent être présentes. Si ce n’est pas le cas, nous ne pouvons pas tester notre matériel et nous ne sommes pas responsables des fuites et / ou des défauts.

Energiezuinige Verwarming

  • Sommige aquariumstellingen en plantenstellingen worden voorzien van verwarmingsbuizen onder de aquariums.
  • Deze verwarmingsbuizen worden door ons in de stellingen geplaatst op tempex platen.
  • Een erkend installateur dient ervoor te zorgen dat de verwarmingsbuizen worden aangesloten op de CV.
  • Hiertussen worden ook een of meerdere thermostaatkranen geplaatst zodat u zelf de temperatuur in de stellingen kan regelen.

*Van toepassing bij: Aquariumstellingen en Plantenstellingen.

Elektriciteit

  • Voor elke stelling dient u een dubbel stopcontact aan te leggen. Eventueel is een enkelvoudig stopcontact ook voldoende (afhankelijk van de gekozen opties).
  • De dubbele en/of enkele stopcontacten dienen 15 cm. boven elke stelling bevestigd te worden.
  • Onder alle koudwatervisbassins en de planteneilanden dient onderin een vast stroompunt aanwezig te zijn.
  • Bij elk schildpadeiland dient binnen een straal van 1 meter een dubbelzijdig stopcontact aanwezig te zijn.
  • De ventilatoren van de vogelstellingen dienen aangesloten te worden op een constante spanning aangezien deze altijd moeten blijven draaien.
  • Aansluitingen bij vogelstellingen dienen eveneens minimaal 15 cm boven de stelling bevestigd te worden.

TIP: Men kan de verlichtingen van alle stellingen aansluiten op de schakelaar welke in verbinding staat met de overige verlichting van de winkel. Wanneer men het licht in de winkel uitzet, gaan alle verlichtingen in de stellingen ook automatisch uit.

*Van toepassing bij: Aquariumstellingen, koudwatervisbassins, planteneilanden, plantenstelling, vogelstellingen, terrariumstellingen en schildpadeilanden.

Aanvoer

  • U dient te zorgen voor een kraanaansluiting met 3/4“ buitendraad.
  • De aanvoer mag maximaal 2 meter verwijderd zijn van de te plaatsen stellingen.
  • De aanvoer dient minimaal 10 cm boven de stelling geplaatst te zijn (bij standaardhoogte van de stelling van 225 cm dient de aanvoer minimaal op 235 cm hoogte geplaatst te zijn).

*Van toepassing bij: Aquariumstellingen, koudwatervisbassins, planteneilanden, plantenstelling.

Afvoer

  • U dient te zorgen voor een aansluiting op het riool met een doorsnee van 50 mm of 110 mm.
  • De afvoer mag maximaal 2 meter van de te plaatsen stellingen verwijderd zijn.
  • De afvoer dient in de grond (of zo laag mogelijk onder de grond, in ieder geval onder de hoogte van het onderste aquarium) verwerkt te zijn.

*Van toepassing bij: Aquariumstellingen, koudwatervisbassins, planteneilanden, plantenstelling.

Algemene regels

  • De ruimte waar de stellingen op worden geplaatst dient vrij te zijn van obstakels en de ondergrond dient uit een harde, vlakke en stabiele vloer te bestaan.
  • Aquaja adviseert een egale, betonnen vloer te voorzien. Op een andere ondergrond kunnen wij geen garanties geven op onze producten.
  • De klant is er geheel verantwoordelijk voor dat de bestelde producten naar de plek van installatie getransporteerd kunnen worden.
  • Denk hierbij aan deuropeningen, winkelpuien, winkelstellingen en overige obstakels. De klant dient te zorgen voor 1 extra persoon i.v.m. het uitladen van de stellingen.
  • De klant dient bij bijzonderheden direct bij offerte of order de maximale deurmaat door te geven
  • De precieze locatie van installatie wordt besproken met een verantwoordelijke ter plaatse. Elke wijziging na aanvang van installatie zal als meerwerk worden doorberekend.
  • Voor aanvang van installatie dienen (indien van toepassing) de afvoer, aanvoer en elektriciteitsvoorzieningen aanwezig te zijn. Indien dit niet het geval is kunnen wij ons materiaal niet testen en zijn wij niet verantwoordelijk voor eventuele lekkages en/of gebreken.
